In July we started a development campaign around improving the quality of our GUI Tools, and today we are proud to launch the first outcome of this quality improvement work.
Today, we have released the updated MySQL Administrator 1.2.3 RC and MySQL Migration Toolkit 1.1.3 RC, which include fixes for *all bugs* reported to us (and verified) by 31.Aug 2006. We believe these tools now provide a much increased stability, and thus we have decided to declare them Release Candidate (RC). However, in order to really know they are stable we need our users to help us by trying them out. We want our community to confirm their stability before we will declare and release them as "production quality", or Generally Available (GA) as we state it formally.
We encourage all of you therefore to download the new MySQL GUI Tools for 5.0r3 bundle. Try it out within your environment, and provide us with feedback. Positive feedback is gladly received, but specifically we encourage you to report *all your problems* with these tools to us. Report your problem by filing a bug at http://bugs.mysql.com.
The most active bug-reporters, but also some selected good bug-report providers, will be rewarded with an Apple iPod Nano! Please note that only reports with detailed steps to reproduce a particular problem can be considered. When MySQL Administrator and MySQL Migration Toolkit are released as GA, we will contact the winners through the mysql.com account information.
The new MySQL Administrator 1.2.3 RC and MySQL Migration Toolkit 1.1.3 RC are included in the MySQL GUI Tools Bundle for 5.0 Release 3, and available for download here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html
Please help us make the MySQL GUI Tools even better!
